Women’s History Month is a celebration of women’s contributions to history, culture and society and has been observed annually in the month of March in the United States since 1987. Women’s History Month 2021 will take place from Monday, March 1 – Wednesday, March 31, 2021.
The actual celebration of Women’s History Month grew out of a weeklong celebration of women’s contributions to culture, history and society organized by the school district of Sonoma, California, in 1978.
The Tribal Library likes to recognize women of the past and our present women who are making contributions every day to our community here at Fort McDowell and the Yavapai Nation. We want the future generations to know where they came from and the contributions their ancestors have paved. Our Baskets which Yavapai’s are known, for is an art we want to keep. Preserving our language for the future generation is the upmost.
We will pay special recognition to our Yavapai women on March 29th.
